Rocky Mountain National Park





Located northwest of Boulder, Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park showcases majestic mountain views and stunning scenery. One fourth of the park rises above the tree line, and there are more than 60 peaks higher than 12,000 feet. The high mountains feature glaciers, permanent snowfields, and numerous challenging technical climbs. Every year, thousands of people attempt to scale Longs Peak, which, at over 14,000 feet, is the highest mountain in the park. Bear Lake is anothr popular spot, resting beneath the sheer flanks of Hallett's Peak and the Continental Divide. Several trails, from easy strolls to strenuous hikes, start from the lake. The park has more than 150 other lakes and 350 miles of trails, making it an alpine paradise. Trail Ridge Road winds through Rocky Mountain National Park, connecting the town of Estes Park in the east to the town of Grand Lake in the west. Reaching an an elevation of 12,183 feet, the road is generally open throughout the summer months. Many visitors enjoy the breathtaking scenic overlooks and short interpretive trails highlighting the geography, ecology, and history of the park. The Alpine Visitors Center is a popular destination for people taking the drive. There are four other visitor centers in Rocky Mountain, including the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, which is a National Historic Landmark, designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin West.
