More About Disneyland - Editor's Tips - Weather Maps & Dining

When to go?
In Disneyland, summer (mid-June until Labor Day) is the official busy season, but holidays, weekends, and spring break are equally packed. If you go during peak season, however, the benefits are that the hours tend to be longer, all the rides are generally running, entertainment is always booked, and the on-site restaurants are open. If you're a real die-hard, go during rainy weather. You run the risk of more rides being closed, but the lines are guaranteed to be shorter. In winter, attendance falls so much that Disney tries to compensate by offering 25% off admission to residents of Southern California.

Where to stay?
Disneyland is an all-inclusive resort with three luxurious hotels built bordering the park, immersing the guests in a fantastic environment of safe, clean family fun. Packages including rooms or suites at these hotels plus tickets to the several parks can help create a stress-free vacation. For the budget-conscious traveler, there are traditional hotels and motels very nearby. If you do stay at an offsite hotel, a huge time saver is to find accommodation within walking distance of the main (and only) entrance to the theme park. Look for seasonal promotions at both Disney and non-Disney affiliated hotels.

What to do?
Disneyland contains eight separate regions including such favorites as Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, all centered around Main Street, USA, a 7/8-scale avenue recreating life in Walt's hometown of Marceline, Missouri. Study the map of the park the night before to plan your visit. You'll save time by knowing where things are and where you're headed. Enter Disneyland early, before the park fills up. If you can't beat the midday crowd at the main gate, the turnstile at the monorail gate to Tomorrowland will get you inside in about half the time.
