If you are traveling withOUT children, and want to go to Disney World, the very best time of the year to go is in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s the emptiest at that time of the year.
If you ARE traveling with children, you’re likely to be stuck during the crowded times. Here are some tips for a more affordable and fun trip:
- Stay offsite. Although the onsite hotels offer convenience, they are very expensive. There are numerous motels nearby that offer shuttle service and are reasonably priced.
- Bring your own snacks. While you might want lunch or dinner there, you don’t necessarily want to spend $3 for a bottle of water.
- Buy a multi-day pass. You’ll save money, and you are definitely going to need more than a day to see both Disney and Epcot.
- Allow a full day each for Disney and Epcot.
- Younger kids will probably prefer Disney, but everyone will find Epcot interesting.
- Epcot has sections that are modeled after the various contries in the world. It’s a GREAT way to experience the food and ambience of these places without a passport! Try Norweigan food, or French, or Moroccan.
- If you have small children, consider going back to the hotel for a rest in the middle of the afternooon and then coming back later.
- If you go to the park first thing in the morning, head to the most popular rides first (the roller coasters). The lines will be shorter at that time.
- Wear comfortable shoes!!! You will be doing a LOT of walking and standing.
- Wear sunscreen. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than a bad burn.
