Some of the Atlantic City hotels are really spectacular, but some are starting to show signs of age. One of the newest and most beautiful is the Borgata Hotel and Casino, which I stayed at this past week. The hotel itself is huge - a towering, copper-colored building. Inside is a large casino - far less smokey than some of the older hotels. Whether you are playing nickels or high stakes, there is gambling for everyone. For those who don’t want to gamble, the Borgata has an excellent spa and offers all sorts of services. There is also a shopping plaza inside the hotel, with many upscale shops and restaurants. We ate at the Ombra - a beautiful trattoria located beneath the main level of the hotel. The restaurant had an extensive wine list, and impressive, beautifully arranged meals. (They tasted good too!) Have drinks in the bricked, cave-like bar first, and try some cheeses and traditional Italian meats.

When staying at one of the big Atlantic City hotels, you’ll find that it’s very hard to get out because there is so much to do in the hotel itself. If you are going for a weekend, forget about trying to visit other hotels. Pick one you like and stick to it. If you are staying for more than a weekend, then explore the Boardwalk and the other hotels. Like Las Vegas, Atlantic City gets great performers for shows and concerts. I saw signs for the Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, The Who, and Jerry Sienfeld.

One word of warning - the roads can be a bit tricky, even though there are signs for all the hotels. Make sure to get good directions before you attempt to drive around.

    Hi
Hope you enjoy your trip. The beach is open and the ocean is ready for ya. The prime beach season, May-September. In October the water is actual warmer then in the summer, due to the water coming up from the Caribbean. The water is fine. The temps run in the 80’s still especially if we get Indian Summer, which is a term that means that October can be just as hot as July, but generally the temps run high 70’s on up. All the casino’s have pools, some indoor, some outdoor. All indoor pools are open all year, most outdoor pools remain open till end of October. Depends on the particular casino. The boardwalk is open all year. Bring a jacket for nights out, the winds make it cool at night. All the cabs in AC have a special, 8.00 from any hotel to anywhere else in the city. There are some boat crusies still open in October. You can cruise over to Long Beach Island for a day. (really not too much to do there) Or you can go down to Cape May, which is about 45 min south of AC and take a whale watcher out in the ocean and look for dolphins or whales. Or take a ferry over to Rehobeth Beach DE, which is home to a factory outlet village that has about 100 stores. South of Rehobeth is Ocean City Maryland, (you can take your car with you on the ferry.) OCMD is a really big family town, they stay open till end of October and yes beach and water there still swimmer friendly in October. Enjoy your trip to NJ. If you come to Philly, make sure you see the Franklin Institute, Constitution Center, and if you need a day trip out of Philly, try New Hope PA for a day, nice river town with tons of shopping and great places to eat. Also near there is Peddlars Village and nice day trip out of Phila. Have a great time on your visit.

We haven`t yet visited Atlantic City but shall be arriving from England and look forward to spending some time there at the beginning of October. Please would you tell me what weather we can expect. Is it warm enough to sun bath and do the hotels with swimming pools keep them open at that time of the year.

    Hope you can help me

    Many thanks
    Marilyn Lyons
