Dress on the Amalfi coast is similar to elsewhere in Italy. Revealing clothes are not allowed in churches and people dress more formally than in the US. Comfortable slacks for men and sun dresses for women are always appropriate. jackets are customary at meals. jeans, T-shirts and tennis shoes are not. If you have difficulty walking it is hard to see much of this area other than from the roadway. All of the towns are very vertical with steep walkways and steps throughout. Sorrento is one place where much of the town is on a single level. But in the end, this is an area that calls for much walking and climbing. For those who can it is well worth the effort!

We are anxious to travel to the Amalfi Coast on October 27th for our 22nd wedding anniversary. 3 couples, all celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. How do people dress in that area?

Where can one find an apartment, or room for rent? My vacation may extend over 3 months.
We plan to visit the Amalfi coast in Fall ‘07. I walk with a cane, and have alot of ankle pain.
Will I be able to handle this region?

The Amalfi Coast holds a special place in my heart - I have this vivid memory of watching the sunrise while sitting at this little table outside our hotel - which was perched right on the side of the cliff. From the little vegetable and fruit stands on the side of the narrow road to the townspeople who seem like characters out of a book, I’m sure you’ll have as good of a time as I did - whether you stay in Sorrento, Salerno, or Amalfi itself…
